Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at cobblehillmontessori@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

For the 2025/2026 year, the tutition fees are as follows:

Full Day (8:55 am - 3:00 pm) $414.00 (5 days a week)

Half Day (8:55am -1:00pm) $354.00 (5 days a week)

We accept children from 2.5 to 5 years old.

Our teacher to student ratio is 1:5. We believe in small group sizes to provide individualized attention to each child.

We do ask that your child be toilet trained before attending their first day of school.

Initially, it can be difficult for parents and young children to separate at the beginning of the school year, and even after holidays. Many young children and their parents feel a bit nervous when they leave one another in an unfamiliar situation. Be reassuring as you talk with your child about her new school. We have found that a short and positive good-bye is easiest for the child. The prolonged or lingering good-bye often makes the separation more difficult. It is very important to reassure him about where you will be during the day, and what time you will pick him up. Have faith in your child and in your teacher. Your child will have a good day, even if you leave him in tears at the door. The teachers are professionally trained to introduce your child to this new experience; she will be comforted and directed to an activity that helps make her feel part of the group. If your child has not had much experience away from you, separation may take time. Be patient and you will soon both feel comfortable.

Depending on the time of year and weather, it's important to dress your child appropriately. We will be outside, rain or shine. This means always being prepared for the ever changing weather and checking the forecast before coming to school. Nobody likes feeling cold or uncomfortable and it heartbreaking seeing a little one not dressed properly for the weather. If you're not quite sure what your child should wear here is a short list.

Inside:

  • Comfortable clothing. The kids do paint and make crafts so nothing you would be sad to get dirty.

  • A pair of comfortable inside shoes.

  • No jewelry as there is a chance it may get broken or lost during play.

  • A change of pants, underwear, socks and shirt. Accidents do happen and we always want to be prepared.

  • Please make sure you child brings a backpack and lunch bag to school with them.

Outside:

  • A warm winter jacket and or rain coat depending on season. If your child's raincoat is made of a thin material please have them wear a sweatshirt underneath to keep the dampness out.

  • Splash/rain pants for the rainy days and snow pants on hand for the days we do get snow.

  • A warm winter hat, gloves, neck warmer or scarf. During the Fall/Spring season it is still quite cold. So having a pair of light finger gloves is great.

  • A warm pair of winter boots or rain boots for the fall and spring. It's important to remember we spend a lot of time playing or walking in the forest. Have your child wear a pair of outdoor shoes that you wouldn't mind getting dirty during our warmer dryer days.

If your child is attending full days, please ensure you have packed more than enough food. We try to always have fruit on hand and they are more then welcome to it however there are times that we don't have extra. We are a nut free environment.  We try to encourage healthy eating but understand sometimes that isn't always possible. Please be conscious of the amount of sugar in your child's food as well as packing chocolate and cookies. Here are a few ideas to help you out.

  • Apple slices
  • Oranges
  • Bananas
  • Crackers
  • Chesse slices or sticks
  • Deli meat
  • Sandwhiches
  • Pickles
  • Strawberries
  • Muffins
  • Humus and pita bread
  • Carrot sticks with dip
  • Granola
  • Celery sticks
  • Yogurt

*Please include a small easy to hold/carry water bottle with your child's lunch.

We understand and know that children in their early years get sick quite often throughout the year, Especially during the winter months. However, if your child is showing any of these symptoms we do ask that you refrain from bringing them until they are back to themselves again. This is out of respect for your child as well as for the other school friends and teachers. Please let Ms. Fayzeh know if your child will not be able to attend school.

If your child is experience any of the following symptoms, please refrain from bringing them to school:

  • Headache and stiff neck
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Unexpected diarrhea
  • Fever (100 degrees F or 38.3 degrees C)
  • Cold like symptoms, coloured nasal discharge, runny nose or eyes, and coughing
  • Sore throat or trouble swallowing
  • Children with known or suspected communicable diseases
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Pain- any unexplained or explained
  • Infected eyes, skin or an unexplained rash.

Should your child be diagnosed with a serious or contagious illness, please notify the school promptly.

Yes. The field trips will be directed by our themes and parents are more than welcome to join or volunteer. Field trips are also optional but of course highly encouraged.

At the end of each day you and your child will check their work folder and take home whatever craft they had made or any school work. There will be a Parent/Teacher meeting early in Spring. Teacher Fayzeh is always available to talk as well. Along with what was mentioned above, there are monthly newsletters emailed to parents along with photos, showing and explaining everything that your child has been up to.

Yes, of course! Parents are invited to observe the children at work. Contact Ms. Fayzeh to let her know when you would like to visit. In order to limit the number of adults in the classroom at the same time, and maintain the classroom as a “children’s environment”, we need to schedule observations so that they do not overlap or so that there are not too many observations scheduled within a short period of time.
During the first sensitive weeks of the school year, students (especially the younger children) are familiarizing themselves with a new routine and new environment. For this reason, we ask parents to avoid class observations during this period.
